I made my first pie from scratch today. Lard crust. Prime rib steak filling. Delicious. You're looking at a $40 pie, though the steak was on sale making it a $26 pie, on sale. I felt guilty stewing such an amazing cut of meat but it made one of the best pies I've ever had.

On October 14, 2007 the Vancouver Police tazered Robert Dziekanski to death. This banner was hung on the Vancouver Police Department building at Main and Hastings. It's in protest of the injustice of Robert's death. It's an awful photograph. It's an amazing sentiment.

Beat the Streets. The kids get tags that they swipe at check points and they get credit for walking to school. Or riding, or scooting. Anything but a car. It's a good idea. A really good idea.
