Homemade sourdough grilled cheese, with homemade tomato soup. I like when the cheese melts through the holes in the bread and get crispy on the cast iron pan. This one isn't quite done yet, but it's getting there.

He was born in this house and lived in it for 92 years. The silver blanket on the "thing" behind the stove is the water heater, and the stove is wood fired, meaning his water heater is also wood fired. It's a beautiful old house.

Two for one, first day of the year. No first footing this year; I didn't darken anyone's doorway. Though I did trespass on CN Rail property. No one got hurt. Promise.

With neither awing nor glass of any significance, Vancouver's Awnings and Glass was closed this last day of the decade. And it rained relentlessly.
