I found this coffee cup perched upon a fence post a block away from where I live. It had been there long enough for me to notice it twice and for it to be filled to the brim with rainwater. I love the dynamic yellow tint, how, despite being inanimate, it's affected by what's in it.

The momentary reprieve from the rain was welcomed with open arms. It was raining again a few hours later, but still, I walked in the sun for a moment.

It may be time to take a break soon.

I kinda missed the focus on this one but it's the only picture I took all day so here it is.

It's raining. Again.

Phil is an older gentleman who shows up at the Anza Club which is usually the packed with hipsters. Over the noise and in defiance of the context he sits down at the piano from time to time and plays beautiful classical pieces. He's a gem.

With only a few days until Remembrance Day I thought it interesting that Poppy Red was making its identity obvious to anyone who cared to look.

A year ago today I got bored and started taking a photograph a day again after taking some time off. I remember the first time I attempted this it seemed a daunting task and nearly impossible to acheive but this second time it seemed obvious, easy, that I would get through another year without question. I missed a couple of days but promised myself I would if I were going to enjoy this project again. I'm less amazed at another 365 days photographed (less three or four) have found their way into my collection and more bewildered by the fact that another year has passed by. There's a line from a Cowboy Junkies song, "And the hours, well, I don't mind how they creep on by like an old love of mine, it's the years that simply disappear that are doing me in." I guess I have a collection of photographs to show for the year but it sometimes feels like very little progress has been made in other areas which, I suppose, is where the rest of the lyrics of that song fit in. I thought long and hard about simply not posting anything here anymore (and you may have noticed the gap in time that has passed between updates) but I like the photos, I like looking back and finding a visual record of where I was on any given day. And I haven't run out of things to take photographs of yet. And, of course, Jamie Livingston kept it up for almost 18 years (and, wow, is it ever amazing, and sad, and beautiful) so I should be able to do it just a little while longer.
