Might be time to dust this one off and take it for a spin. Made in the early to mid 50s, it's lasted 60 years or so, I need to do my part to make sure they keep on making film for this thing.

Steelhead trout head.
"I'll just take this into the back and get it filleted for you."
"Why?"
"You want to do it yourself?"
"I think that's part of the poetry of it, no?"
"Huh. You're the first person to not want us to fillet it for you."
"That's unfortunate."
For the record, way too much butter in a saucepan with finely chopped shallots until the shallots are about 2/3rds cooked. Pour over a fillet, salt and pepper to taste, and bake for 15-20 minutes. Some might like to add lemon juice to the sauteed shallots. I don't. But I wouldn't tell you that you were wrong if you wanted to.

4 hours in the wood shop. Cut list and design semi-finalized. I'll be making 20 of these next week. Should have build time down to 2 hours each by then.

I like that this one used to say "Stop 'the oilsands'" and now it's been upgraded to simply "Stop 'Harper'".

It's only a matter of time before the capitalists realize that little plot of land where Ken Lum's East Van cross is is worth millions and millions of dollars and could situate a 15 story building of 200 square foot micro condos at market rate. The digger is kitty corner now...

17 of the last 18 days were shot on film. Real, old fashioned film. Some with 35mm, some with 120. Mostly Kodak but there was some Fuji in there too. The Mamiya was a tank of a camera to haul around but I like it. It's a good camera. And I like that old equipment still works after years of use. I'm not one to upgrade my digital equipment too often, my camera is 6 years old, that's ancient in the world of digital cameras, but it's starting to show signs of wear. The autofocus is sometimes temperamental. Some of the dials don't do what they are supposed to do when you ask them to do it, or at least not the first time. Of course there's technology involved here too, the scanner I use is alright, it could be better, so I'm left longing for new technology to maintain my old technology. Anyway, I'm back onto digital after today for a bit but I'm certainly happy with the film experiment.
