In a strange kind of way, I look at this like a life size version of Ken Lum's miniature. Or rather, a large scale version of a small scale model. Not quite life sized, but manipulated somehow.
Real but not real. Not real in a real way.
This looks smaller than it is, despite being life sized, where Mr. Lum's is like this one looks.

Keeping this motorcycle is a tough decision. The first time I sold it I had the first right of refusal to buy it back. I bought it back. It was the first motorcycle I bought because I wanted it. Quirky. Italian. I just put a new clutch in it. And rebuilt the gear selector. And had to re-weld an oil cooler bracket back onto the frame, because it's Italian. The neutral light works sometimes. The indicators work sometimes. Sometimes the clutch lever pivot point falls out when you're doing 120kph riding into Spokane Washington on a Saturday night, and you'll improvise a small rock into the clutch pivot and you need to hold in place with your index finger as you ride to Home Depot to (hopefully) find a nut and bolt that fits into that sloppy hole.
When I bought it back we went to the licensing office in Calgary only to discover it was still in my name. The guy I sold it to never transferred the ownership. Kind of poetic, really.
And now that I've cracked the engine, stripped it down to frame, I kind of feel like I own it, and it owns me.
You can't tell from the photo, but it's running. Considering how many pieces it was in, I'm as surprised as anyone that it started. So there it is. 2001 Moto Guzzi Rosso Mandello, anniversary edition. #144 of 300. I think I'll keep it.

Camaros will always hold a spot in my heart. Especially white rusty ones. This one is about a '76. The fast one had 165hp, and did 0-60 in around 8 seconds. That makes it down 100hp and a second slower to 60 than a new Dodge Grand Caravan. Worse on gas too. But still, I'd rather have the Camaro.

For a while I thought the idea of living in a camper was quite romantic. And then I found cities. Money is changing cities, they are dying, or becoming the playgrounds of the rich, and maybe small towns, or places where you can live in a trailer, maybe these places are gaining appeal. I'm not alone.

Now she's a pinball wizard. 2 hours of freeplay at the Pinball Museum. And the last day of our Seattle spring break trip. It was fantastic. She preferred the old school games. So did I.

I've been thinking about this story recently. So much being said under the surface of the words you're being presented with. Those six words are so rich, so telling. Your mind so easily understands the narrative, whatever it is, and there may be dozens, and they are all correct. Six words, wow. So very, very good.

Every spring break this kid and I spend a week together. This year it's a mix of sticking around Vancouver and road trip. Today it was the Capilano Suspension Bridge. I've never been before. Now I have.

Demolition. The east wing of City Hall is gone. Nothing is permanent. I joked that I was going to get that as a tattoo once; "Nothing is permanent."

Today's mood; overcast, with a chance of storminess, and maybe a light of in the distance, but it probably won't help me see anything. Not yet, anyway.
