I've started to read the last Salinger book available for reading, as in, the one I haven't read yet. Steinbeck wrote a whole bunch of stuff over the years. I won't be left wanting for another classic author to read after finishing Salinger, not with Steinbeck in the wings. And there's a (very) short list of Raymond Carver books I haven't read yet, though I find satisfaction in rereading the Carver books I've already read.
I'm sure Steinbeck used a typewriter the first time these words were written. I'm happy to have made a machine repeat this event.
"One suits a moment in drunkness." Magnetic poetry moments.
We are what we are. And there's no fighting it. And, if we're lucky, we get to embrace it.
