Ian Howorth

I've really been liking this guy's photographs. Ian Howarth has a web page, and because this is the 21st Century, Instagram. The way he manages to capture the beauty in very ordinary objects is inspiring. A windblown tree, things that are pink, a picture on a wall. Subtle. And beautiful.

Dodgey.

Also, Richmond. Over 20,000 steps according to some smartphone app, 3 of the last 4 days. 10,000 steps on the 4th day. The weather has been unseasonably dry. Probably because I bought a ski pass. Last time I bought a ski pass it was also unseasonably dry (i.e. no snow).

It's been a relaxing few days.

It seems an odd way to live.

Transitions, from one state to another. Nothing is permanent.

19-1-22

Metaphors;

Keeping it simple. Large windows, and a simple door and walk. Nothing is boarded up but there's some cautious coverings, cracks allowing glimpses in, and out. A small covered stoop, a simple house. I'm trying to get my head modeled like this. It started with yesterday's photograph, and while I feel like I've come a long way from there, I'm not quite here yet, but the address is clear with a light above is so at least I know where it is and I can get there in due time, even if it's dark out. Some days it's dark out.

19-1-21

Metaphors.

Disjointed compartments, seperated by closed doors of various types. Things secreted away, some boarded up, some with warning signs telling you to keep out. Some you just can't get to because there isn't any stairs. Some work is being done to fix this mess, perhaps to connect them, repair windows, widen doorways...

Who knows what will result. Maybe it will still be disjointed, with a new coat of paint and Bluetooth operated heavy duty door locks taking the place of "keep out" signs.

More tomorrow.

Someone stepped off this bridge. It's a thin line.

This is what skiing looks like today. I don't think I'm a skier. Working on the details. I think I like hiking more.

19-1-18

Just another Friday. If only that were true. If only that were true.

19-1-17

I'm sure I took a photograph today but I can't find it. This might be the first time I completely accidentally, without knowledge, didn't take a photograph. Or maybe I'll find it and plug it in here. I don't know. I don't know a lot of things these days.

19-1-16

There was a film photograph for today. I liked this one more.

19-1-12

I've been shooting film again. And digital, just in case. But film. I should be through the roll in a day or two. Or three.

This? SFU. Urban hiking. No hand rails yet. But maybe next year.

19-1-11

Winter skies, not usually so lacking in rain. And appreciated.

...like kittens... They breed, and I don't know what most of them do.

First footing with this kid and a couple of cameras. It was the perfect way to start the year.

Last picture I took this year.

Old boots seeing some miles again. No good reason. No bad reason either.

Hagstrom guitar. I play it terribly, but I play it a little bit less terribly every day.
