Long story, the work I've been doing lately is contract work so the regular checks have been replaced with billable invoices. Today I got paid for the first time in a while and I felt like a millionaire for a bit. New boots, some money put aside for a new Henckle kitchen knife (the one I've had for the better part of 18 years has finally developed a cracked handle which makes chopping steak tartare from scratch a bit of a chore as I recently found out...), and a $26 bottle of wine from a short list of favourites is what I afforded myself today. I might have bought myself a Barolo had I not been concerned that it might remind me the $12 wines I've invested in recently aren't that good.
