Fishing rod, check. Hooks and stuff. Check. Fishing license, check. Wait, what's a "bait casting" reel? Really? I have NOT the skills to make that work properly. Right then, emergency side trip to Canadian Tire for fishing rod #2. And then Lake Chilliwack, where I threw bait and hooks and lures into the water with the song "My Girl (Gone, Gone, Gone)" going through my head for three hours while doing so. Not even a nibble. Could have bought a lot of fish with the $300 I spent on gear and a license. Would I do it any differently if I could go back in time? Nope. Will I do it again? Yup.
