Artifacts. It's really not much of a building. But it's so much of a building. "good bones." That arch, and an impossible span. So. Much Space.
It's such a lovely building. Next to a development; "Vancouver's last waterfront development!!!" It's by the river. It's a fair distance up that river. "waterfront" is a stretch. There's sometimes a puddle in front of my house. I don't claim to be "waterfront."
A door was left open. Light creeps in from places where it should, and sometimes places where it shouldn't. It feels like it's been there forever, like it could be there forever...
...but also like it might be gone tomorrow. It will likely be gone within 6 months. We build things "forever." And then we knock them down.
Piles of "forever." Artifacts of "forever."
"No Filter," as the kids say. It would be nice to know how we decide what to spare, what to preserve, what to respect, in retrospect. Something will be built around this. It will be revered. It will be loathed. There will be community meetings about "the old tree."
Without filters.
