20-1-13

Homemade sourdough grilled cheese, with homemade tomato soup. I like when the cheese melts through the holes in the bread and get crispy on the cast iron pan. This one isn't quite done yet, but it's getting there.

20-1-12

Snow has arrived. And appears to be staying for at least a week or so.

20-1-11

He was born in this house and lived in it for 92 years. The silver blanket on the "thing" behind the stove is the water heater, and the stove is wood fired, meaning his water heater is also wood fired. It's a beautiful old house.

20-1-5

Vancouver's Clark Drive is changing rapidly.

20-1-4

Nearly midnight and no picture taken. The old standby will have to do.

The big excavator is teaching the little excavator. Soon it will be able to level Vancouver buildings all by itself....

20-1-1

Two for one, first day of the year. No first footing this year; I didn't darken anyone's doorway. Though I did trespass on CN Rail property. No one got hurt. Promise.

19-12-31

With neither awing nor glass of any significance, Vancouver's Awnings and Glass was closed this last day of the decade. And it rained relentlessly.

19-12-30

Caution. I suspect the hole under the pavement is rather monumental.

Henri is 92 years old or so. He came for turkey, and it was a pleasure.

19-12-24

Those filters have lived at the left edge of my Lightroom program for years before I started clicking on them a day or two ago. Is it cheating?

Orange snow fencing protecting trees for decades in Vancouver.

19-12-21

My knee. There's a remote control for the D750. Rather, there's two different remotes, probably more. One is made by Nikon and costs around $20. The other is in my hand in this photo and it costs $5.95 and will be delivered to your door in two days by Amazon if you ask them nicely and give them six bucks or so. You can't see what the framing is, or the focus point; strange that when you're not looking through the viewfinder when you push the button on the remote, but when you push the button on the remote the camera isn't too particular about how much the remote cost.

Potato. Heart of the Earth. Soul of the human diet. Loved, but not adored.

19-12-18

Medium format for $40. I expect to be disappointed.

19-12-17

Batmobile lost it's wheels and the Joker got away...

400mm focal length. This might be one of only two photographs I've ever posted with a 400mm focal length, and the other one was of the moon....

19-12-15

I have a lot of photographs of this tricycle.

19-12-14

I like this one with the reflections a lot.

19-12-12

Assembled and ready to install.

19-12-11

Problems in the First World, rather than First World Problems.

This man is a superhero. I was helping him help marginalized people and housing challenged people on his lunch break from his day job, which was helping marginalized and housing challenged people. His heart and soul is in it.

19-12-3

Fuji digital cameras have "film modes" jammed into their microchips. This is "Velvia Vivid." Does that count as "no filter??"

I almost ate here once but got it on good authority it wasn't very good. Shame, because the sign is pretty great.
