I have a piece of crap 2003 Nissan Pathfinder. It's my "primary" car, as in, I purport to like petrol powered things. I have a classic NA Miata which makes me happy, and a Moto Guzzi motorcycle which I put on the road for the first time in 3 years this spring. The Miata has been off the road and uninsured since last September. The Guzzi got insured on a whim and has been ridden at least 3 times in the last 3 months. The Pathfinder? It's my primary vehicle, the beater, the utilitarian vehicle. I haven't put gas in it since last January. There's some construction going on in my neighborhood (see tomorrow's picture) and I had to move the Pathfinder so I took it for a spin up to the Cypress Mountain lookout, took a photo, and drove it home again. (maybe this should be a picture of the Pathfinder?) Nearly $500 in insurance and $70 in gas is what it's cost me over the last 5 months. That's more than $2/kilometer. And a lot of that driving was just making sure the damn thing still worked.
I should sell it.
But even the best of car shares might cost this much when considering the once a year I drive the thing to a place.
And today it got me this picture.
Cars are silly things. I have 2 of them. My gross mileage since January 1? About 300kms.
Maybe I should buy a van to convert into a camper too....

It's strange seeing the park with no one in it. Covid has made the park a socializing hub and the City of Vancouver has gone as far as to legally permit alcohol in the park. I can't remember the last time I've seen no one here unless it was pouring rain.

Franklin-Christoph makes some of the best fountain pens on the planet without requiring a second mortgage on your home to acquire one.

Price seems a bit steep. Maybe there's a shortage on potted flowering plants too. Premium pandemic pricing all around.

Side job. 54 hours so far. Little bit of walking around money for July. Oh yeah, I'm taking July off. The whole month. Can't wait.

Vancouver landmark (?) Only Seafood is slowly being scraped off the face of the planet. The company I work for used to own this building. Truth be told, it was slowly rotting into the hole it was built above. There was a plan to save it once.
I aquired 2 boxes of Rego coffee cups from the restaurant that were left behind when the building was sold. I opened one box, the second was "spares". They are everything you would want out of a diner coffee cup. Heavy, a bit small, the perfect shape, and functional white. I use them nearly every day as they are the perfect size for a strong Americano. It's been over 5 years and I haven't broken one. Yet. But I have spares still in the box.
I never did eat there. They shut down soon after I took this photo.

Big screen for the game. Small screen for Steve Dangle. It's like watching the game with a Leafs fan in my living room.

Best thing about the pandemic is beers in the park. Might be the only good thing about the pandemic?

A friend of mine used to live in this house. His son was born in this house. And now it's going to get knocked down. Low income housing will replace it and that is probably a good thing except what Vancouver deems "affordable" often costs more than what it replaces.

My father sent me a large bag of old negatives. I'm going to wear out my scanner loading them up. So many great photographs.

New brakes and struts front and back. It's been a couple of days using my hands and tools. The front end will get done next weekend. The aftermarket brakes that were on it didn't work very well in the rain and, well, I live in a rain forest, so....
