After fighting with Telus 3 times about what "timely installation" of internet services meant I've decided to go with a different service provider who can't hook up the hamster tubes to my house until the 21st of September. But I'm still taking photographs.

I work nights so I often ride my bike to work into the sunset and ride into the sunrise in the morning. It really is quite nice to feel the sun on your face twice a day. This image is East Hastings in the morning on my way home. (If you look closely in the link you can see the Washington Hotel where I work)

I like this one more than I should.

I left the house without a camera today. I felt naked. And I didn't get a photograph. My life has been consumed with a lot of distractions lately, mostly building a house and getting ready to move. It's getting in the way of a lot of important things, like I haven't seen my daughter in days. I'm hoping it's worth it in the end.

It's one of those weeks (again) where sleep is rare and the work on the house I'm renovating is all consuming. But you've got to take the time to stop and smell the flowers, so they say.

There's a story that goes along with this picture. I mean that quite literally, or literarily, though it seems that's not really a word, but I wish it were.

I have an excuse. 2 hours sleep over a period of 28 hours. No really, I've been really busy.

I worked with a girl named Janna Valee (sorry if I spelled that wrong) last night who introduced me to Yarn Bombing. In a matter of minutes she had whipped up a parking meter cozy and had it installed on a meter at Main and Hastings in Vancouver. There are so many subversive narratives and ironies associated with this that I can't even start to describe them. So I won't.

Is it possible that I miss Prairie skies?

Like a fart at a quiet moment at a formal dinner, one odd format photograph stands out uncomfortably. Despite a readily accepted format I find it uncomfortable, cumbersome, awkward. By itself it's alright but in context it's a white elephant. Oh well.

I changed my first choice of image to this one. The other image, well, I liked it more in so many ways but the colours were wrong, the contrast was wrong, and even though I pushed it into Photoshop 3 or 4 times it never reacted well with what I threw at it for modifications to colour, contrast, saturation. It's confusing how smaller point and shoot cameras fight with the colour blue so often when there's so much potential for it to be the potential backdrop of every photograph taken outdoors.

Not enough hours in a day. Too many hours in a day.

With a million monkeys and a million typewriters you might get the complete works of Shakespeare. If you had two million monkeys would you get Shakespeare twice?
