(See yesterday)

I briefly considered not carrying real cameras with me for a while. Just using a cell phone. My phone's camera is pretty good quality wise. But again, this aspect ratio is unnerving. There are standards. 2:3.  3:4. Oddly, 9:16. Some cinematic ratios of 2.39:1 or 1.85:1. This? This is something like 10:13. It's unsettling. It doesn't "feel" right. So I start carrying a camera again tomorrow.

Cell phone camera. I find the frame aspect ratio to be offensive. But 99.5% of what I post on here is full frame, uncropped, as shot. I'm not pretending there's an extra integrity to that, I don't pretend about much I take pictures of what I see. Cropping after the fact is cheating. This is what I saw and what the camera gave me. So it's what I post.

I rarely photograph a still life.

Two ideas about "home." And hundreds sleeping in tents in the park. So much empty space in this World Class City. So many people looking for a dry place to sleep.

4/20 day. White puffy clouds. A beautiful blue sky day.

Green watch, modeled after a classic. It looks incredible, but it's proof that green isn't my colour when it comes to watches so it's up for sale. Watches are a silly hobby. So why not?

I'm not sure exactly how old this typewriter is. There are indications that it's as old as 1909-ish vintage. Or it might be as new as the 1930s. Either way it's somewhere in the 80 to 110 year old range. And now it works again.

Two weeks ago this old Underwood didn't work. Lots of penetrating oil, some coaxing, and a spring fabricated from an old stove element socket holder and it works again. I think I'll know by the morning.

I might have taken a photo of this bush before. I can't remember. I can't be bothered to look.

20-4-12

Maybe this blog is jumping the shark.

I swear I thought I missed yesterday. And I was alright with that. But I didn't. And I didn't miss today, which I also thought I might have missed. So that's that.

Cherry blossoms elsewhere in the city are dying already, and every year the trees on this street refuse to acknowledge it's spring before they are fully ready to do so, which is never early. And probably not for another week or two at least.

20-4-3

Day 2, of a pair of similar photo contrasts. The magnolias are more beautiful than the cherry blossoms, in my humble opinion. Rarer. Just like the 4 door Jimmy is a rarer beast than a boat in storage. (see yesterday) I don't think there will be another pairing tomorrow. Maybe there will be another pairing tomorrow.

20-4-2

It's that time of year again. Cherry blossoms. There are thousands, maybe millions of photos taken of these blossoms. So I took one too. Again. Same as last year. And the year before. And if I'm lucky enough to survive the pandemic, next year too.

For no good reason I quit drinking for the month of March. And for no good reason I quit quitting drinking one day early. Because I could, after proving I don't have to.
