14-12-27

It's been relatively rainless this winter and for this I'm grateful.

Christmas. Awesome.

New phone. First in a couple of years. That's about par for me, two years. I'm going to admit, my old phone was "better" but I've been won over by battery life. But as I type this, two days after I bought this phone, it's midnight-ish, and the phone has been used heavily all day, and I still have 47% battery left. My last phone, the "better" phone, would have been dead by 4pm, maybe 5pm if it was a good day. I'm not a fan of being a "consumer" but I'm also not a fan of bad tools. My phone is a tool, my old phone was a bad tool.

New York Strip. $8 worth of steak (slightly more than half of what's in the photo), a buck or so on rosemary new potatoes and garlic, and I've saved enough over eating in a restaurant to buy a liter of wine. And then I still have the steak, and the wine.

Goddamn it was a good steak.

"History doesn't repeat itself, but it does rhyme." not Mark Twain, though many suggest he coined this phrase.

14-12-4

I've taken pictures of trucks before. I wonder if I have a deep dark desire to own a truck. I've had a 4X4 before. I have one now, though it's not a "real" truck, but I feel manly when I drive it up to Jones Lake. That is, until I get to the lake and see there's tourists making tea lake side next to their Mazda Miata that they've just driven up the same active logging road as me, only with a camp stove and a tea set. They probably drove it much more slowly and gingerly than I did. Probably. But they had tea. And a convertible.

If you're not taking photos of the Ken Lum East Van piece, you may as well be taking photos of the the harbor cranes. It was a lovely sunny day though. Snow tonight, they say, whoever "they" are.

I imagine working for Phillips as a brewmaster would be a pretty amazing job to have. Or a label designer. How fun would it be to make new beers all the time? I should polish up my resume.

You've been on the road too long when brushing your teeth is this exciting. Hour 23 of about 28 total. Teeth needed brushing.

It's fun to blame the smell of cow on the bum of your co-pilot. And I think it's a good sign that I still find fart jokes funny. At least I can relate to fart jokes with an 8 year old. Or maybe that's a bad thing. I don't know. I don't care either. "Sophie! Did you fart?"
