Security camera? Check.

21-7-27

New camera. Top photo was the new X100V, the bottom was the old D750 with a 60mm macro lens. I very much like the new camera but there's no denying the old camera is a more powerful tool. That being said, I'm very grateful to have both.

Was this the product placement Pepsi was hoping for? If so, where's my cut for this cup being on my lawn?

21-7-20

I like these urban photos that look very rural. 12th and Clark in Vancouver. That's a $1.5 million dollar house or thereabouts.

I also like the single light being on. There's a feeling of loneliness.

It's a late night photo with a new camera. The Fuji X100S has done it's duty and been replaced by a Fuji X100V. I love/hate these little cameras. The X100S was used and abused for 8 years which is a long time for anything digital. It's life isn't over but it's life with me is over. I'm sure it has some good pictures left in it.

The X100V, well, it's new. It's so familiar while being so different at the same time. I'm getting used to it. Some of the changes seem arbitrary. Some are "improvements" I also would have made, until experiencing the "improvements" first hand. The ISO dial being an analogue thing makes sense on the surface. I would have done the same thing, until I used it. And I worry that it might not be as durable a control as it needs to be. It's a delicate pull up ring thing reminiscent of an old Pentax Spotmatic. But different enough in how it works that I don't have a lot of faith in it lasting 50 years like the Spotmatic. Hopefully it lasts 5 years.

The cowboy painting made the trip from Ontario to BC and has found a new home.

21-7-15

Home. This little car got me there and back. I very nearly didn't take a photo today. It's good to be home. Tomorrow the car gets a wash and an oil change. In the next 12 months it's going to get a new top, a new steering wheel, and maybe a turbo. The Pathfinder on the left? Maybe I'll just set that on fire.

Home.

21-7-14

Calgary AB. I lived there for nearly a decade. I should have more to say. I don't.

21-7-13

Brandon Manitoba has a Bitcoin ATM. And a crap hotel called "Motel Midway." I'm not sure how they knew it was the midway point of my trip. I think my room was $75.

21-7-12

Back to Thunder Bay. There's a story in that kinked sign. If I was here a bit longer I might seek out that story.

21-7-11

Sault Ste. Marie. I don't think I've been here before. This is downtown-ish. It's one of those towns that exist for no good reason in a part of the world where there's no reason to exist. Except for that canal. How many people does it take to push that button. Water up.... Water down... Water up... Water down....

I know it's more complex than that. For now; tires.

21-7-10

I grew up in that house in Port Elgin Ontario. And to this date, it's the place where I've lived the longest though this house in Vancouver is quickly catching up. That little car made it there. And back.

21-7-9

Sudbury Ontario. Smoke stacks blending into the forest.

 Thunder Bay. Stay classy....

21-7-7

On my way to Thunder Bay.

21-7-6

Brandon Manitoba. The province is still in a state of lockdown. I was to stay in my hotel for 14 days. I bought a small pizza and went for a short walk. I didn't cough on anyone. Promise.

21-7-5

I don't know how accurate that digital clock is but it says I got the photo before midnight so I'm going to go with that.

On a road trip. East. I might get to Ontario. I mean, I know I got there as I write this, but when I slept in that hotel room in Calgary I didn't know how far I'd get.

21-7-4

Jill Barber. What a fire cracker. It was the last night of Jazz Fest and she was delightful to watch sing.

21-7-3

Dee Daniels put on a clinic. She can sing and she kicked ass.

21-7-2

Ludic. All light pollution is intentional...

This record reminds me of when I bought a Trans Am record in, oh...., 1995 or so, and the CD came with a sticker on it that said, "all distortion on this recording is intentional. there is nothing wrong with your CD."

To this date, Trans Am Surrender to the Night is one of my favourite albums.

Ludic was better than I expected. These kids are 19 years old. They've lived in a pandemic for the last 2 years and they admitted this was their first hour long live show. I'm sure they did the math before; "do we have enough songs?" They did. Are they brilliant? No. Good enough? Maybe. And when they all move on to other bands and have greater success, the Ludic years will be reveled in.

21-7-1

 Peggy Lee Band.

21-6-30

Limbs of the Stars. Backstage. Vancouver International Jazz Fest. This might be my favourite photo of the festival.

21-7-29

I know I took a picture today. I can't find it. I think I might be able to find it. I think a lot of things.

21-6-28

Snotty Nose Rez Kids. Jazz fest started today. It's the only music festival running in Canada right now. Things are slowly returning to normal? Maybe? I don't know.
