This is what the clutch of a 2001 Moto Guzzi Rosso Mandelo looks like. I wish I didn't know either.

They are going to build some million thousand square feet of hospital across the street from this. It's been known for a while that the hospital is coming. The little brick building slowly rots away. The buildings in the two closer lots gave up trying years and years ago. Behind me is where an active metal working shop stood for nearly 100 years; it closed a couple of years ago. When the hospital is done the developers will come in with their cheque books and their bulldozers and turn the whole mess of it into chain coffee shops and fast food restaurants I'm sure. That's not any worse than vacant lots and empty buildings (though an argument could be made), but the promise of fat wallets has crushed any idea of building something tangible here, something of quality, something of a civil nature.

I'm tired. That poor old building is tired.

I've been to Juke twice now. So. Very. Good. And I went with a lovely group of people. I haven't seen Good Company beer before, but it was appropriately named in the context.

Probably the best fried chicken I've ever experienced.

Craving a full frame, 35mm fixed lens digital camera. The Fuji X100S is lovely because it takes fantastic photographs, but the crop sensor is just missing......something. Soul? Maybe that's it.

Plus, sun in Vancouver in mid November. Such a treat.

Leonard Cohen died yesterday though the news didn't report it until today. It got me listening to music. Dead people. David Bowie. Jason Molina. And Leonard Cohen.

Some time after I returned to the world of vinyl I bought a pair of needles (what's the plural of "stylus"?), to replace an undoubtedly older worn one, and to have a spare in case I wore the second one out. That was 2013. Apparently a stylus is good for about 500 hours of music. I've easily tripled that, maybe quadrupled that. Maybe 5-tupled it (pentupled?) It hit me as I had a quiet moment with a record and a volume knob and I swapped out the stylus for the new one. And the sound got so much better.

So. Much. Better.

I ordered two more styluses (styli?) tonight. Some millions of dollars later conveniently put on a credit card and they will ship to me by the end of next week, or the following week for sure. Probably.

Good night Mr. Cohen. The vinyl release of your newest record was held up and not quite available yet, but when it is I'll be ready.

I took four pictures of this. This is the first one. Trust your gut.

28,005 words so far. 264 pages. A stack of notes adding up time in billable quarter hours. 63 more pages of product information and pricing to add into the index. One more day of this. Another few thousand words. Another bunch of pages.

I am not cut out for a desk job.

And then one day all the leaves were gone. I don't remember there being a summer.
