It's a cliche, I know, but I don't know where the time goes. Since getting back from Ontario there's been very little time to do, well, anything. I force myself to sleep, pass on summer bike rides in order to weld bicycle bits together so that others may gleefully ride, and then race off to work again. As they say, you need to take the time to stop and smell the roses once in a while. Conveniently there are roses in my back yard otherwise even this simple pleasure might have escaped me.

Awake for 28 hours straight. At about hour 26 or so I took five minutes to stand barefoot in clover with the sun on my face and just.....breathed.

Sophie, "Bear's sad."
Mum, "Why is bear sad?"
Sophie, "Bear misses Daddy."
It's good to be back.

Even the shadows felt right.

I have a not quite completed painting from an artist I don't know but it's of a subway car. When I look at it I can almost hear the train cars squealing down the tracks. Today I heard that sound. It's hard to describe how skreeching metal on metal can be a comforting sound but it is.

The Sadies played at the Horseshoe Tavern as part of NXNE.

I've taken this exact picture three or four times, usually at breakfast. I would like to think it references one of my favourite Eggleston images.

There's a fig tree in my new back yard. Apparently it will yeild two crops of figs in a year.

No picture yesterday. It's true. I did cart a camera around for the better part of the day but for some reason I didn't take it out of my bag.

This one makes me happy.
