22-1-23

I went for a walk today. 13kms.  From Trout Lake area, across the Second Narrows, and to Lonsdale Quay. Something like 18,000 steps, plus another 2,000 just mucking about. I've done the walk before. It's hard to not take a photo from the bridge. And roller coasters.... I've done this walk before. I've taken lots of photographs along this route. Today I took maybe 6. This is half of them.

Maybe I need a change of scenery.

Ready for the apocalypse. Somewhere there's a school bus/education/preparing for the future analogy in there.

A tiny piece of Vancouver that, if framed just right, seems like it's somewhere in Europe.

"We are all in the gutter but some of us are looking at the stars."

These are rain drops, photographed with a flash. A moment and configuration never seen before and will never be seen again.

Oh, God, make small
The old star-eaten blanket of the sky,
That I may fold it round me and in comfort lie …

- T. E. Hulme

I came home to live piano music. It was lovely.

Another one about to disappear to make room for more 2 bedroom, 700 square foot, $850k condos.

22-1-15

I'd like to do a series of these. Night skies. I like when the photographs exist in contrast to where they are taken. This is in Vancouver, of course, without mountains or city or.... any other cliche you can think of. I edited out some lights. I guess that's cheating, but it's my photograph, I get to do what I want. This one has more of a dream like quality than the one from a few days ago

22-1-14

I went to see a movie in a theater for the first time since covid hit. 2 years? Has it been that long? It was good. I missed it (blurry cell phone photographs notwithstanding).

Sunlight in a box. Oscar has found his happy place.

I made my way west today. This one makes me happy.

Oh, and I saw Vancouver's world famous Barge on the Beach. It took a while, but it was worth the SkyTrain ride to the West End.

This building. I've taken many photographs of it. I don't know why I'm so intrigued by it. But here it is again.

For only the second time in 25 years Trout Lake has frozen over.
