12th Ave used to be a single lane in each direction. For Expo 86 it was doubled in width to handle the expected extra traffic. It's unclear whether it was to revert back to single lane traffic, I can't find anything about it on the internet. It's a crappy road. Soulless and noisy. It's also where I live. They planted trees along it in an effort to save it? Never has the planting of trees riled so many people. The city planted trees within a couple of feet of trees planted by residents of 12th Ave, my home included. We had just planted a lovely little Garry Oak. The city plunked down their tree 2 feet away from it. I don't understand.

Another day on the bike. So many boarded up houses in Richmond. With a rental vacancy rate of almost zero it seems so wrong to see acreages with boarded up houses in the middle of them. I'll have to put on some boots and hop some fences to take some better pictures one day, there's no shortage of subject matter if you find this kind of thing intriguing.

Probably going to sell this bike. 10th Anniversary Independent Fabrication. They only made 10. Mine's number 8.

I rode my bike out through Richmond, BC today, and then east and up through New Westminster. It was a lovely day for a ride. About 65kms all told.

Damn bike is nearly 10 years old. I ride it nearly every day. It probably has 30000kms on it. It's more than I've put on any car I've ever owned. Nearly, anyway, though I'll admit to selling the POS cars I own on a regular basis. But the bike cost more too, so that makes sense. Rode it home tonight. Will ride it home tomorrow. And the day after.

I had dinner with the man who taught me the basics of building bike frames tonight. It was good. I need to get working on this one. It's been hanging from the rafters for too long now.

Just to the north and east of the train station is a wonderful little community garden that uses old pianos as planters and has old bed sheet prayer flags. It's a lovely little place to take some photographs.

It's the unassuming photos that get the most attention. Nearly half an hour in Photoshop for this. But I think I got it where I thought it should be when I took it.
Chilliwack. Not the most glamorous of destinations but I got to hang out with Gord as he tuned my motorcycle. It's lovely being in the presence of people who know what they are doing. Gord had gone to seminars to learn about fuel injection management and ended up teaching the instructors. He's a rare human being.
And a hub for trucks to rest on their way to where they are going. Or on their way from where they are from. It's a place in denial of being a place. And an odd place to find a person with a camera with a little too much time on his hands.
And so it goes.

This tree is dying. It produces the most delicious white cherries every year but I suspect it only has half a dozen years left in it. The blossoms correspond with the most magnificent light my humble abode experiences. I squint when emerging from my bedroom in the mornings. And I look forward to squinting each morning.

Obligatory cherry blossom photograph. And sunset. It feels like the cherry blossoms are lingering this year, though it's still snowing in the east. I have no idea what that means, if it means anything.

60kms on the bike today including two bridge crossings. It was a great day for it. It was warm, but a bit grey, so grey photographs. The new bicycle is brilliant.

I miss working on bikes. I also miss having a tool board. But I don't mind the messy bench, because it means I've been working on bikes.
