I tried a recipe using yeast. Yeast from a bottle. From start to finish is about 3 hours. It's not a tenth of the naturally leavened sourdough I usually make. I had to try. I shouldn't be surprised by the result.

They found a small rock in the path of the new sewer they were planting under the street near my house.

I rode a motorcycle to Harrison Hot Springs. First time on a motorcycle in nearly 3 years. It was good. I think. I think it was good.

Vertical format. Portrait format, photographers and artists like to call it, as opposed to landscape format. So rare. I don't like turning my camera sideways. The ergonomics of it are such that it feels purpose built to take landscape photographs. Maybe one day I'll be rich enough to own a camera with a vertical grip on it so I can more honestly take portrait photographs. Maybe not.

I've read a lot of Raymond Carver short stories over the years but never any of his poetry. Until this. It's good. He's a favourite.
DRINKING WHILE DRIVING
It's August and I have not
read a book in six months
except something called The Retreat From Moscow
by Caulaincourt.
Nevertheless, I am happy
riding in a car with my brother
and drinking from a pint of Old Crow
We do not have any place in mind to go,
we are just driving.
If I closed my eyes for a minute
I would be lost, yet
I could gladly lie down and sleep forever
beside this road.
My brother nudges me
Any minute now, something will happen.

This glass has been cracked for at least a year. There are no sharp edges. I notice it every time it ends up in my drinking water rotation. And here it is again.
