The view looking up from the sunny part of my back yard.

House sale closes in 2 days. I think I'm sadder than Henri is to see it go and he was born in this house.

I think I've photographed this before? Yup. Here it is.

I got sick. It was just a cough. But because the world is ending, any cough means getting a test, right? I called the hotline and 2 hours later I was tested, and 8 hours or so after that I got an email saying I didn't have Covid. Very reassuring process.

Like a painting. Straight out of camera.

Housing, designed to look like containers stacked. Street level is three stories up on the south side.

They watch you coming and going.

Milk braised by Reagan, and properly carved. And delicious. He had more patience than me when it came to the carving.

Applewood smoked for five hours and also delicious. Chinatown carving techniques employed; cut it into bits, bones and parts be damned.

We made good use of the somewhat lifted Covid restrictions. The food and company was excellent.

State of the Union

Blogger has changed its editor somewhat. I've tried before to find other ways to post daily but have always found Blogger to be the easiest. The new editor is frustrating, or maybe I just don't know how to use it, but I'm pretty good at understanding how to use these things. Problem is, I don't know how to migrate 13 years of posts to another format. It seems an impossible task for something that is mostly a hobby or a distraction. Anyway, that's all. I've sent Blogger a curt email. I signed off with, "I guess you get what you pay for." Blogger is free. It's been pretty decent for what it is. But it's a dying medium. It's currently ranked 204 in the world, which is a significant ranking, but it used to be a lot higher.

Maybe I'll look at different formats. I don't know. I don't know a lot of things.

A screw driver, nut cracker, bottle opener, is that a hammer on the handle? and scissors too, I think.

The kid's shoes don't look like kid's shoes anymore.

I hiked Erin Moore trail just north west of Vancouver. Only saw a couple other people, we maintained a good distance between us on the trail. I think we managed to not spread any viruses.

Low tide.

Pandemic beers in the park. I've liked how alive the streets have been even though we're all supposed to be staying at home. They are about 6' apart, right?

Chicken and potatoes with the kid for dinner.

Henckels made in Germany. It's seen a lot of use. I've put an edge back on it and it cuts quite well. It's been sharpened so many times that the bolster stands proud of the blade heel so I'll have to figure a way to clamp it down so I can file it back and shape it. I wanted to verify I could get it to cut a tomato first, and it works just fine, so now I'll fix the rest of it. I might refinish the wood handle too. Built for a lifetime of use. In this case it will be two lifetimes.

The pandemic has everyone baking sourdough. I've been doing it for a few years now, and it's a lovely thing to do. I'm glad others are discovering how easy it can be (if not a little time consuming) and nothing tastes as good as home made bread. Water, flour, and some salt. That's it.
