16-9-1

So many trips on the ferry lately. It's been because of work in Victoria and, it's true, I like Victoria. I like it a lot. It would seem, save for Calgary, there aren't many places that I don't like more than Vancouver. Because....  And so many other things. But raising the property taxes of a business that's been around for over a hundred years from $23000 to $61000 in five years should be a crime. Tosi could have sold the property 10 years ago and retired, but his life is his interactions with his customers and Vancouver is taking that away from him. He says in the article he'd like to keep selling imported meat and cheese and pasta for another 4 years or so but he can't afford to pay the taxes so he's done. This city has no soul, or at the very least it's killing the soul it has.

I like Victoria though. It was hard to come home tonight. The beauty of the ferry ride helps.
